New diabetes prevention strategy welcomed

Diabetes Queensland Chief Executive Michelle Trute says she's '..excited by a new strategy to prevent the disease among our Indigenous communities.'

Ms Trute told 98.9fm that for the last 20 years there has been a serious lack of proper prevention strategies. A shocking 30 per cent of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, with the numbers on the rise.
