Students at remote Australian schools start receiving laptops

Date posted: 7 April 2010

Minister for Employment Participation Mark Arbib welcomed the One laptop per child Australia initiative which is now underway. The initiative, which aims to provide approximatley 15,000 laptops to children in remote areas, is the result of a corporate partnership between the Commonwealth Bank, Telstra and News Limited.

Senator Arbib said that the support of Australia's corporate community was vital in closing the gap in education and employment outcomes for Indigenous Australians.
