BreastScreen WA's annual Picnic in the park for Indigenous women on tomorrow

BreastScreen WA's Picnic in the park for Aboriginal women is happening tomorrow, Tuesday October 23, 2012.

The annual event occurs in Kings Park. All women are welcome, with the main target group being Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

The event aims to raise awareness of breast cancer and encourage screening. BreastScreen WA provides free screening mammograms to Western Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women 40 years or over with no breast symptoms, every two years.

To host the event, BreastScreen WA is partnering with:

• WA cervical cancer prevention program
• Women's Health and Family Service
• Yorgum
• Cancer Council
• St John of God
• Bentley/Armadale Medicare Local
• Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service
• Breast Cancer Care WA
• Centrelink
• South Metro Aboriginal Health.

The picnic starts at 10am and will run until 2pm. Morning tea, lunch and refreshments will be provided.
