Korey Summers to represent Northern Territory in half-marathon championships

Date posted: 4 September 2012

Indigenous marathon project (IMP) squad member Korey Summers has been selected to represent the Northern Territory in the Australian half-marathon championships at the Blackmore's Sydney Running Festival next weekend.

The 22 year old Alice Springs athlete was selected in Rob de Castella's IMP squad earlier this year. His achievements so far include running a personal best of 82 minutes at the Gold Coast Running Festival in July, and a win in the ABC Alice Springs half marathon last month.

Korey said he felt extremely proud to be selected to represent the Northern Territory and was looking forward to the race.

'I have lots of confidence now after doing well at the Northern Territory Championships last weekend, so I am hoping to do really well.'

Korey will line up alongside 2010 IMP squad member Charlie Maher, also from Alice Springs, who will race in his first major event since conquering the New York Marathon in 2010 and the Boston Marathon in 2011.
