Associate Professor Sophie Couzos is a public health physician and general practitioner working in the School of Medicine and Dentistry, James Cook University.
She has 20 years experience working within both Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS's) in remote Australia and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) based in Canberra. She has instigated and influenced a wide range of national policies, programs and research towards achieving health equity for the Aboriginal population within the Australian health system.
Areas of interest are: medicines access, preventive health, health policy development, analysis, implementation and evaluation pertaining to disadvantaged populations.
