Biography

Eve Somssich is employed at the Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory (NT) as a Health and Safety Trainer where she develops and delivers short courses in health and safety for industry and management. She is also responsible for delivering health and safety training courses throughout the NT.

Eve holds a Graduate Certificate in Educational Management and Leadership, and Diplomas of Transport and Logistics, Workplace Training, Project Management and Frontline Management.

In 1999, Eve commenced work at Charles Darwin University (CDU) specifically to develop a NT Aboriginal driver training and licensing program and consequent driver education unit. At CDU, Eve also managed the vocational and education training which included transport, civil construction, industry skills and maritime and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander work ready programs.  From there, she has developed numerous programs and resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander driver training and has vast experience in teaching and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout the NT. Eve has also worked as an occupational health and safety advisor for the NT Airports for two years.

Eve has published several articles relating to driver education and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander road safety in Australia.
