Biography

Jill  Smith  joined the Council for Aboriginal Alcohol Program Services Inc. (CAAPS) as  CEO  in  July  2013  after two years  in  Operations  and  as State  Director,  Northern Territory  for  Mission Australia.  Over the previous 20 years she worked with the Department of Community Services in the New South Wales far west region, based  in  Broken  Hill,  managing  services  from Corner  Country  to  the  South  Australian  and  Victorian borders. Jill then had nine years with a Sydney based not‐for‐profit youth service managing residential treatment and community services.

Reflecting on core principles based on capacity strengthening for Aboriginal people, Jill is working alongside the CAAPS Board and staff to deliver culturally sound treatment services to families who suffer the effects of substance misuse in the Top End.
